Summary A good walk that starts at Monsal Head and after dropping down to the viaduct climbs to Priestcliffe and across to Taddington. From Taddington the route takes you across fields to the pleasant village of Chelmorton and then down into Deep Dale. You walk up Deep Dale past Ravens Tor to the top of the dale and onto Sterndale Moor. From there you cross rolling countryside to Flagg and on to the second Deep Dale. You drop down the length of the Dale and finally walk up Monsal Dale to the viaduct and back to Monsal Head; and a drink. The 2 Deep Dales are worthy of the walk in themselves. In spring and summer they are full off flora and fauna. The route finding is easy and reasonably well sign posted You pass through a number of pleasant villages - Flagg and Chelmorton - and one of the most bleak in Derbyshire - Sterndale Moor You can select either to look at the text of the walk (Text Only) or read my diary and summary of the walk (Diary) |
