Wonderful Dales, good views and a pint

Home Start Point Peak District Text Only Diary

Summary

The route starts at Monsal Head and drops down into Little Longstone and on to the Monsal Trail. You follow the trial through Bakewell to its end before Haddon Hall. The walk then follows the Wye to the entrance of the hall before climbing up and out of the Wye valley and down into Lathkill Dale. The walk up Lathkill Dale is one of the best Dale walks in Derbyshire. Eventually you join Bagshaw Dale which ends at Monyash. From here you climb up rolling limestone field and tracks and over to Taddington. The last part of the journey takes you along the top of Taddington and Monsal Dales to the Monsal Dale Viaduct, from where you climb back to Monsal Head and refreshment

Its an easy route to follow and is entirely on paths. But be warned its popular so go mid week and out of the holidays to avoid disappointment.

The views and scenery in the both Lathkill and Monsal Dales are wonderful.
