Map copyright Ordance Survey Summary The walk starts at the National Park Visitors Centre at Grassington and walks up through the village and across Kimpergill Hill and Back Pastures to the Bycliffe Road at Kelber. The route follows the Bycliffe Road to Sandy Gate, the col between Wharfedale and Nidderdale. From here you follow the boundary fence over Riggs Moor onto Great Whernside. From the top of Great Whernside you drop down the side of Dowber Gill Beck past Hag Dike to the outskirts of Kettlewell. From Kettlewell the route takes you down Wharfedale up Langcliff to Capplestone Gate and then down the Conistone Turf Road to Scot Gate. The final part of the route drops down the Dales Way back into Grassington. A good walk with excellent views from the tops of Wharfedale and its surrounding fells. The walk down Wharfedale from Kettlewell to Grassington is magnificent. The route finding is reasonable although care is needed in mist especially on the top of Great Whernside. Most of the walk is on grassy paths or track but the trek across Riggs Moor is usually wet and there is little in the way of a path although route finding is easy because you follow a fence The big advantage of walks starting at Grassington is that there are plenty of tea shops at the end of a long day.
